About HSEC

HSEC Hosts More Than 100 Continuing Education Conferences Serving Over 11,000 Human Services Professionals in Central Illinois.

The Human Services Education Council, Inc. (HSEC) in Springfield, Illinois is a not-for-profit volunteer organization of professionals who plan, develop and offer high quality, low-cost conferences for professional human services providers in Central Illinois. HSEC collaborates with local groups to sponsor professional educational conferences each year, offering continuing education credits/hours to human services professionals. HSEC members do not receive compensation for their time in planning conferences. HSEC members hold monthly planning meetings in Springfield. New members are welcome and have the opportunity to offer ideas for future presenters and topics.

HSEC is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation as a provider of professional conferences, providing continuing education hours for LCPC/LPC; LCSW/LSW, LMFT, and Psychologists (Additional continuing education hours are offered in cooperation with SIU School of Medicine, St. John’s College of Nursing, and IAODAPCA for Nursing Home Administrators, RNs, and Addiction Professionals, respectively).

HSEC has been providing certification education for helping services professionals since 1978.

The Human Services Education Council (HSEC) was developed by the University of Illinois (Champaign/Urbana), University Extension Office in 1978. It all started when two individuals from McFarland Mental Health Center and the Regional Program Director for the University of Illinois met in Springfield and formed a volunteer committee to plan and deliver high value conferences for professional human service providers in central Illinois.
